Rita’s career began in 1986 as a sales assistant/secretary with E.F. Hutton. Becoming increasingly more interested in a financial advisory role, she set her sights to becoming Series 7, 65, 63, 68 securities licensed and life and annuity insurance licensed. Rita then partnered with a senior financial advisor and vice president at the firm in 1987. Three years later, she relocated to North Richland Hills, Texas.
“I love talking with clients and assisting them with their current and future investing needs,” Rita said. “I treat my clients like I would want to be treated if I didn’t do this job.”
Rita joined Merrill Lynch in Fort Worth and Las Colinas, Texas, in 1991, and then UBS Financial Services in 2003, prior to joining Raymond James in 2009.
As a financial advisor, there are times when Rita must tell clients something they don’t want to hear. “It’s my job to make sure my clients understand risk versus return, and that investing is a marathon not a sprint,” Rita said. “Specializing in financial and retirement planning, my goal is to meet their goals and objectives with the least amount of risk.”
Rita graduated with a BBA in petroleum land management from Oklahoma University in Norman. She relocated to Austin with Ray Oujesky, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Law School that same year.
Originally from Oklahoma, Rita and her husband, Ray, live in North Richmond Hills, Texas. They have two children, Madeline Grace and Jillian Claire. Ray is an attorney with Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP Law, of Fort Worth.
Rita is actively involved in the Birdville Independent School District (BISD), where she has actively supported PTA Snow Heights, PTA North Richland Middle School, and PTA Richland High School from 2001 to 2016. Her community engagement also includes participation in various BISD Booster Clubs and the Birdville ISD Education Foundation. In addition, she serves on the North Richland Hills Police Department Training Advisory Board (2022–present) and is Treasurer of the Skylark Circle Community Improvement Association (2025–present).
Previously, Rita served on the North Richland Hills City Council from 2012 to 2024. Her other civic leadership roles include the Health Facilities Development Corporation and Industrial Development Corporation (2007–2009), TIF Reinvestment Zones One and Two (2012), BISD Leadership (2012–2016), and the Park and Recreation Facilities Development Board (2017). She also served on the Medical City North Hills Hospital Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2024 and was a member of the North Texas Commission Board of Directors from 2017 to 2024.
Rita is an active member of The Hills Church of Christ, where she volunteers in Teen Program 24/7 activities, the Baby Boomer Bible Class, the Welcome New Member Program, D Group for Teens, and Bible classes and retreats for grades 6 through 12.
Rita has no time left for hobbies. Her children and their many activities have taken the place of hobbies, but she “remembers” playing tennis, reading for pleasure (not just business), traveling (and not just Disney and various domestic theme parks) and gardening.
