Michael J. Skrynecki, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, joined Raymond James in January 2017 after 14 successful years as a financial advisor and associate vice president with Morgan Stanley.
Mike brings a distinct perspective to helping people plan their financial futures. Prior to becoming a CFP® professional, he devoted 15 years to working with and for nonprofit organizations. Through his successful nonprofit and business experience, he is inspired to help individuals, small-business owners, busy executives and nonprofit leaders achieve their financial goals.
In 2014 Mike was nationally recognized as the first recipient of the Invest in Others Catalyst Award. Nominations are evaluated based on an advisor’s leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a nonprofit and the community it serves. The winner is selected from among three finalists.
He earned the honor for his tireless dedication as founder and chairman of the Wiskott-Aldrich Foundation, an organization that assists families worldwide with children facing the challenges of Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome, a rare, life-threatening disease.
Early in his career, Mike worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and the Trinity School. He also co-founded and later sold MissionFish.com (now PayPal Giving Fund), one of the first companies to help nonprofits raise funds online.
In keeping with his nonprofit roots, Mike is extremely active in the community and has been recognized for his work with several philanthropic organizations. During his 24 years as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta, he has held several leadership positions and has been frequently recognized for his contributions to the club. He also was president and a board member of the Georgia Planned Giving Council. He is a member of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2009 and the Philanthropic Advisor Leadership Institute’s Class of 2011.
Mike coaches youth baseball and flag football, as well.
Originally from New York, Mike has made Atlanta his home. He has two bachelor’s degrees from Georgia Tech and a master’s degree from Georgia State.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, have two sons, Stephen and Bobby.
