Van’s passion for numbers, combined with more than 13 years of financial industry experience, lay the foundation for his deep understanding to help clients meet their financial goals.
Building on his specialized knowledge, he continues to expand his areas of expertise. Van’s completion of a rigorous, invitation-only certification program resulted in his Investment Management Consultant* designation. The program focused on sophisticated investment management topics and reinforced his commitment to a consulting approach in managing client assets. Additionally, he earned the title of Certified Estate Planner after finishing an eight-module course specific to client needs surrounding their estate.
Van designs risk-managed, tax-efficient investment portfolios for our clients focusing on retirement planning, risk management, fixed-income investments and tax-reduction strategies. Before joining Raymond James in 2012, Van worked as a financial advisor at Smith Barney in Coral Gables, and owned Martin Investment Services Corporation. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Active in the community, Van is past president of the Ponce Business Association. A past member of the Baptist Young Philanthropists and the Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals, he has also held positions as vice president of Business Networking International Synergy, and past co-chair of The George Washington University Alumni.
Originally from Jamaica, Van lives in Pinecrest with his family. When not working with clients, he enjoys playing soccer, participating in triathlons, running, swimming, biking and traveling to exotic places.
