Brian founded True North Retirement Partners in 1999 with a simple belief: always treat people how you would want to be treated. That belief led directly to the policy of discussing and disclosing all fees before engaging with any client. Fortunately success followed quickly and he realized the importance of building a team with similarly beliefs. Now in his 30th year as an advisor he could not be more proud of the team that has agreed to join him on the journey of helping businesses and families navigate the world of finance.
Brian's clients include corporations trying to run better retirement plans, and families looking for direction and guidance. He works with business owners to manage their personal wealth, their work retirement plans, and exit strategies. He helps families work through the dynamics of wealth transfers, charitable planning, and risk mitigation. Clients work with him because of his unique ability to listen to the needs and anxieties of his clients while providing education and guidance to mitigate those anxieties.
He has been an active leader within Raymond James. In addition to working with his own team, he was the Complex Manager for Illinois for 15 years and has served on the Raymond James Executive Council. He is a member of the Raymond James Retirement Plan & Institutional Advisory Council (RIAC), a dedicated group of advisors nationwide that have made retirement plan consulting their primary focus.
Brian has always believed in continuing education. He started with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Marquette University. He has also completed rigorous coursework to earn the Certified Investment Management AnalystSM (CIMA®) designation from the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA), the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies, the Wealth Management Specialist™ (WMS) designation from Kaplan University, and the Certified Exit Planning Associate (CEPA®) credential.
Brian and his wife Carla raised their three children in Downers Grove. He and his family love to travel together, explore the outdoors and spend time at their lake home in Wisconsin. Brian is an avid reader, student of philosophy, downhill skier, and he is attempting to learn golf.
Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA®) is the owner of the certification marks “CIMA®,” and “Certified Investment Management Analyst®.” Use of CIMA® or Certified Investment Management Analyst® signifies that the user has successfully completed IMCA's initial and ongoing credentialing requirements for investment management consultants.
