Troy Rames, CRPS Vice President, Investments

Troy brings an empathetic approach to his role as a financial advisor. His goal for his clients is to build their confidence by providing a clear understanding of how to pursue their goals.

Troy’s empathy comes from firsthand experience as an investor. Between 1987 and 2007, he served in the United States Air Force, having been stationed in Europe and Asia – and deployed to Iraq in 2005. Early in his career, Troy began investing. Over the years, he’s experienced many market highs and lows but has ultimately kept his long-term goals firmly in place.

When he left the military in 2007, Troy became a financial advisor – playing to his strengths in math and investing. He joined Raymond James in September 2023, attracted to the firm’s investment in technology and ability to help him support his clients in pursuing their goals and dreams.

As a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist™, much of Troy’s work revolves around 401(k)s. Whether his client is a participant or a business owner, he strives to ensure everyone receives the level of service needed to pursue their retirement goals.

On a day-to-day basis, his work involves completing portfolio reviews, adjusting investment strategies as needed, and working with his team to help ensure his clients’ needs are being met. His professional experience is further backed by a bachelor’s degree in finance from Park University, Missouri.

Outside the office, Troy is the treasurer on the executive committee of St. Francis House – a social services organization that helps individuals meet their basic needs in life, from housing and shelter to food and clothing. When he’s not volunteering, Troy enjoys hunting, biking, traveling with his wife and watching his grandson play sports.

Originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Troy currently lives in his hometown with his wife, Dawn, and nearby his daughter, Brittany, and grandson, Gavin.
