Jeff’s parents always emphasized that we are only stewards of what is given to us – it is our responsibility to use the gifts we have to the best of our abilities to provide for ourselves, our families and our friends. Jeff found that many of those homespun “farmlife lessons” can be applied to all of life-whether raising his children, Joe and Caroline, with his wife Christy or helping clients understand the basic tenets of financial planning.

Throughout his 28-year career, this simple philosophy has served as an ongoing source of the devotion and loyalty he exhibits. He is devoted to his clients and what is important to them – and dedicated to applying his specialized capabilities to pursuing their financial goals.

Having worked in the trust industry for nearly 20 years, Jeff has a keen awareness of the importance of proper planning, not only from a financial point of view, but also from an estate perspective. While financial concepts and strategies can often be complex, clients appreciate his ability to explain them in understandable layperson’s terms.

Jeff holds the professional designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor and is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner. By being certified by the CFP Board, Jeff has taken the extra step to demonstrate his professionalism by voluntarily submitting to the rigorous CFP® certification process that includes highly demanding education, examination, experience and ethical requirements.
Before joining Raymond James in 2012, Jeff spent 10 years at Merrill Lynch, where he served as vice president of the Williams Faucette Group. He spent seven years at the Banc One Investment Management Group, where he managed family relationships for business owners and professionals, and served as vice president, institutional client service manager and state manager for retirement plan and institutional services for West Virginia and southeastern Ohio.

Prior to the merger with Banc One, he served as the vice president and trust officer with Key Centurion Bancshares and First Huntington National Bank, where he managed personal trust, investment and institutional relationships. He began his career as a trust officer for United Carolina Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jeff is an honors graduate of the American Banker Association’s National Graduate Trust School, at Northwestern University. He also earned a BBA in trust management from Campbell University, where he graduated with honors and was named 1985 Wall Street Journal Student of the Year.

Active in the community, Jeff’s many roles include vice president of the Mountwest Community and Technical College Foundation, a board member and past president of the Children’s Place Early Learning Center, a board member of the YMCA of Huntington Foundation, a past president of the Huntington Estate Planning Council and a member of the Rotary Club of Huntington. He is also a member of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, where he serves on various committees including finance and adult education.

In the past, he has also served on the boards of the Huntington City Mission, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tri-State and Tri-State Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He has taught investment and trust management classes at Marshall University Community College.

Jeff is originally from North Carolina and spent his childhood in Tarboro and Laurinburg. In 1990, he moved to Huntington from Charlotte NC and has made Huntington and the Tri-State his “home” ever since. In 1999, Jeff married his best friend, Christy Vance, who is a native West Virginian and graduate of Marshall University. They have been blessed with two children, Joe and Caroline. In his free time, Jeff enjoys performing as the lead singer of the Oakwood Road Band.
