There is only one guarantee Shawn can make and that’s to put your interest first and to continually strive to offer the best financial services available to the people of Oklahoma. Newton’s law is alive and well in all markets which means at times we have to deal with down markets. Shelby Cullom Davis, Founder of the Davis Investment Discipline, stated “You make the most of your money in a bear market, you just don’t realize it at the time.” In a down market you’ve got to be able to trust your financial advisor and if you don’t you should move on to another one. Shawn has been advising clients for over 22 years and has ridden out the treacherous storms of the technology bubble of 2000 and the great recession of 2008.
Shawn is also a retired Army Colonel, having served 30 years combined on active duty and in the Army Reserves. He successfully commanded two Basic Training Battalions and received a below the zone promotion to Colonel in 2010. Due to his unique civilian experience in the securities industry and as the Founder and Board Chairman of a local State Bank he was selected to be the Inaugural Chief Investment Advisor to the Department of Defense. Shawn was the lead investment advisor to a three member Department of Defense Board which consisted of The Director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Services (SES IV), the Director of Military Budgets (a two star billet) and the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller). As the Chief of the Investment Advisory Committee he was responsible for making annual investment recommendations that exceeded at least 60 billion dollars. His committee was responsible for making recommendations on portfolios with assets exceeding 829 billion dollars. In 2014 he was a principal author of the Department-of-Defense Investment Policy Statement for the Military Retirement Fund, The Medicare-Eligible Retiree Health Care Fund, The Education Benefits Fund, The Voluntary Separation Incentive Fund, Host Nation Support (US Relocation Activity) Fund, The National Security Education Fund, The Defense Cooperation Account Fund and The Defense Gift Account (DGA) Fund.
Shawn is a long standing member of Rotary International and firmly believes in and lives by the Rotary 4-Way test which states: of all things we say, do or think we ask ourselves 1. Is it the truth, 2. Is it fair to all concerned, 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships and 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? If the answer isn’t YES, then it shouldn’t be done.
