Dwight Edwards is a thought leader in retirement planning for corporate clients, business owners and individuals. He has in-depth knowledge of qualified and nonqualified plans for employers of all sizes, from startups to multinational corporations with thousands of employees.

He is a Chartered Retirement Plans SpecialistSM, Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM and Accredited Investment FiduciarySM. By having worked in the qualified plan arena for more than 20 years, Dwight has experienced the many legislative changes, platform transformations and acquisitions that have impacted this area of practice for decades.

He works with HR professionals, CFOs and small business owners to provide a competitive retirement benefit that employees appreciate and utilize. It helps his clients with their goals of recruiting, retaining, rewarding and retiring their key employees. In addition, Dwight designs Nonqualified Deferred Compensation (NQDC) plans for the top executives of the corporations he serves. Dwight also assists other Raymond James advisors across the country as they design and implement NQDC plans for their clients, sharing his extensive knowledge of Executive Benefit Plans and IRS Section 409A.

In his local community he works with small business owners in Wesley Chapel, Florida, and throughout the Tampa Bay area with important matters such as key man insurance and buy-sell agreements. He has in-depth knowledge of the IRS Section 1042 exchanges for ESOP transactions, which may benefit business owners seeking a tax-efficient exit strategy.

Dwight also works with individual clients to provide personalized guidance for pursuing their retirement goals, help them manage the risk factors they face before and after retirement, and review other needs such as college, long-term care and insurance planning.

Dwight began his career in 1998 as a Financial Advisor with Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley. He first joined Raymond James in 1999 as a Retirement Plan Consultant and, later, as Director of Retirement Plan Consulting.

He left the firm in 2006 for Principal Financial Group, where he served as Director of Business Development for Florida, and then as Regional Vice President of NQDC plans for the Southeast.

Dwight returned to Raymond James in 2016, as an external for Institutional Fiduciary Services as a Business Development Officer focused on plans larger than $10 million in assets and later as Executive Benefit Consultant for NQDC plans on a national level with the Raymond James Insurance Group.

He attended University of South Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in economics after leaving the military. Dwight is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served in the 1990s as an electrician working on C-130 military transport aircraft in Little Rock, Arkansas, the largest C-130 base in the world.

Dwight grew up in the Tampa Bay area. Today, Dwight and his wife, Joyce, live in Wesley Chapel. They have two children, Jordyn and Sidney. In his free time, Dwight enjoys spending time with his family and friends around the pool or on the water. He is an enthusiast of all outdoor activities, specifically hiking, shooting sports and fossil/rock hunting.
