With nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Shane W. Cooney advises clients on a broad range of financial planning strategies. As a financial advisor for Westermann and Cooney, of Raymond James, located in Mason City, IA, he focuses on listening to each client because he believes everyone’s needs and financial goals for the future are unique.

Before joining Raymond James, Shane advised clients at Piper Jaffray for six years. He also held positions with American Express Financial Advisors. Additionally, Shane currently holds a Series 7 General Securities license, Series 63 State Securities license, and a Series 65 Investment Adviser license.

Shane graduated from Buena Vista University in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in business management. A firm believer in continuing education, Shane enhances his experience by attending annual conferences and completing courses at Raymond James University.

Shane takes pride in his involvement in the community. He was instrumental in the founding of the North Iowa Cultural Center and Museum, who operates the historic Surf Ballroom as a non-profit organization, where he continues to serve as a Board Director. He was a two term city council member in Clear Lake. Additionally has been an active board member and past President of Veterans Memorial Golf Club and Mason City Youth Hockey.

Shane W. Cooney is originally from Clear Lake, IA, and currently resides there. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, who is a kindergarten teacher and his children, Wil and Riley.
