Advisors Financial Center was founded by Neal Griffin, III and his brother, Christopher Griffin in 1995. The business began on Fayetteville Street and eventually moved to its current location on Sunset Avenue in 2001.
Named “Slate Oaks,” the 928 Sunset Avenue home of Curry Fulson Loflin and his wife, Kate Erwin Brittain Loflin, was built around 1932. Constructed with brick behind the slate, the walls of the house are about twelve inches in thickness. Two steel beams fortify the home, located in each wing. To obtain the slate, Mr.Loflin purchased a river bed, then had the slate blasted, removed, and hauled to the site. In the summer of 2001, Slate Oaks was purchased by Neal Griffin, III. He and Christopher Lee Griffin, his brother and business partner, have hosted yet another generation of family-centered endeavors. Their goal is to continue to restore, preserve, and enhance the dignity of Slate Oaks with respect for its history. Also, they hope to be a true compliment to the church’s reputation and property.
