Michael Agurkis is a financial advisor, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and President of CommonWealth Financial Planners in Roswell, Georgia. He joined CommonWealth in 2006 and has worked to ensure the success of his clients’ long-term financial goals ever since. A graduate of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, he returned to Terry to receive his CFP® certification, and has earned Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses as well.

Michael was an integral part of the CommonWealth team when Norm Shirley, the former president, earned a spot in either the Raymond James Executive Council or Leader’s Council every year from 2006-2019. Leader’s Council recognizes the top 175 independent Raymond James advisors in the country, while Executive Council recognizes the top 500*. His focus on building relationships—in addition to portfolios—brought him to his current position as President of the company in fall 2019. Since becoming president, Michael has continued to earn these accolades from 2020 through the present.

Outside of his professional work, Michael is a member of Rotary Club of Roswell, chairing the 40th annual Golf & Tennis Tournament in 2018 that raised over $200,000 for local charities, a club record. Michael is also very involved at his daughters’ school, participating in a variety of strategic planning initiatives and volunteer opportunities.

Michael and his family are active in their church and have given back to the community through volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, MUST Ministries, parish garage sales, and other community events. In his free time, you can find Michael and his wife, Sarah, relaxing at home with their two daughters, likely building Legos, playing chess, coloring, or working on their latest home improvement project.
