Serving his hometown of Richmond, Virginia, Jim Baber has been helping clients achieve their unique financial goals for more than 25 years. He was drawn to the industry, and ultimately to Raymond James, by his desire to help people – and by the fact that no second or minute is the same.

The Randolph Macon College graduate began his career as a financial advisor with Legg Mason in 1996, where he remained for a decade before becoming a vice president at Scott & Stringfellow. In 2011, Jim joined Janney Montgomery Scott as first vice president and transitioned to Raymond James in 2017.

Jim holds his Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses as well as his Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation.

He and his wife, Mary Beth, have two children, Caroline and Alex. He is an active member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, serves as Director of the Titmus Foundation, and Vice President of Wilderness Alternative, Inc. Jim is also a Board Member of the Zeta Lodge Institute, the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, is the founder of Tad’s Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering kids to be kids again, and is a Board Member and Treasurer of the VMI Lacrosse Auxiliary. Jim was former co-chair, with his son Alex, of the Dunkin Donuts Munchkin Run that benefits the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, former Vice President of Celebrate RVA, former alumni Board Member and co-chair of the 25th Reunion Committee for St. Christopher’s School, former Board Member of the Randolph Macon College Board of Associates, and former member of the Troop Committee of Boy Scout Troop 444.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys exercising for fitness, and spending time with his family.
