James is a Nashville native. He attended St. Paul Christian Academy for elementary school before starting boarding school in the seventh grade. James attended the Rectory School in Pomfret, CT for middle school and graduated high school from The Blue Ridge School in St. George, VA. He’s a University of TN alum, majoring in University Studies with a focus in Business Management. 

The son of a now retired advisor, James is second generation financial services professional. James began his investment career in 2004 working for a private money management firm in Richmond, VA named Godsey & Gibb Associates. The firm oversaw nearly half a billion in assets during James’ employment. He worked in research and portfolio management at the firm, ultimately serving as a relationship manager. James joined Raymond James in 2007, coupling lessons learned in VA with his dad’s teachings to develop his practice. He joined Pinnacle Financial Partners in 2013.

James is married to the love of his life Lindsey. They have two daughters, Lucy and Maggie. James and his family are active members of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Nashville, where James is a lifelong member. James is also a passionate volunteer coach for the Ensworth Middle School boy’s lacrosse team.
