Since joining the industry in 2004 Derek has provided financial advice to select individuals, organizations, and corporations. He enjoys working with his clients to help them plan and implement their long term financial goals.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Derek has always had a desire to own a business that would allow him to help people. In late 2003 he was recruited by one the largest financial services firms in the nation. It was at that time that he learned of a truly fitting opportunity.

His work ethic and dedication allowed him to grow business quickly. This brought opportunities early in his career to help in many leadership and mentor roles including training and support of local advisors, and overall growth of the firm.

Born and raised in Centerville, Utah, he is the second of 4 children. He was fortunate to be surrounded by the examples of his parents and grandparents. Through their examples they have instilled in him a legacy of honesty, hard work, dedication, and service.

Derek studied Business at Weber State University. In 2004 he obtained his Series 7, Series 63, and his Life and Health Licenses. He also obtained his AAMS designation through the College for Financial Planning. Derek served as a missionary for his church for two years in Santiago, Chile. During that service, he gained valuable experience in working with people from all walks of life. He learned that the eternal principles of honesty, respect for self and others, and hard work are universal. It was these experiences that gave him a true passion for business, entrepreneurship, and service.

Derek makes his home in Surprise, AZ. He lives there with his wife, Dawn, and their four children: Taylor, Porter, Charlee, and Cannon. He is extremely involved in his church and community. Derek continues to dedicate time and energy as a youth sports coach for the City of Surprise. He loves travel, sports, the outdoors, and being with his family.
