Vice President, Investments
From the inception of Opus Capital Advisors of Raymond James, the intention was to create a practice where client objectives and confidence in their advisor were of greatest significance. Paramount to the team is continuing to strive for excellence in all they do to benefit their clients.
With a focus on financial planning and investment management in the context of holistic wealth management consulting, Ray looks to create as much reassurance as possible regarding clients’ investment portfolios and their financial future. His unique experience winning an NCAA National Championship and playing within the New York Yankees organization established a foundation of excellence and high achievement that Ray brings to each client that Opus serves.
He also aspires for each client to feel educated concerning their investments with every interaction with the Opus team. In doing his best work, Ray hopes clients feel empowered to focus on their priorities of family, career, and/or leisure pursuits because he is steadfastly and diligently working on their behalf.
As the son of an accountant, Ray grew up in and around financial services. After earning a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Georgia, he garnered more than 20 years of industry experience and knowledge as a financial advisor at Prudential, Wachovia, Wells Fargo and Morgan Keegan. He joined Raymond James as a vice president of investments in 2012, and applauds the firm for its cutting-edge technology and tools that allow him to provide a customized, high-level and holistic investment management experience where individual client relationships come first.
Ray has always believed that the financial and investing landscape presents a genuine opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of clients. Current events, future assumptions and the market in general are in a constant state of change – so each day presents a new parameter, circumstance or opportunity to partner with a family in a meaningful manner with integrity and care.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Sarasota, Florida, Ray lives in Cumming, Georgia, with his wife, Kimberly, and their daughter, Shelby. Involved in his community, he is an active member of Northpoint Community Church and has been a youth softball coach for 13 years strong. He has transitioned his love of the game to developing young women as a recreational league coach with Sharon Springs, travel team coach with Sharon Springs and Midway Park, and high school coach at King’s Ridge Christian School.
In addition to being a part of the winning 1990 NCAA National Championship baseball team at the University of Georgia, Ray played professional baseball with the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, golfing and fishing.
