Before joining our team, Everett graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as board president of Meals on Wheels of Durham.

A Durham native, Everett lives with his wife, Candace, and their children.

David is knowledgeable in comprehensive financial planning services with a specialty in retirement planning. Loyal and honest, he works closely with clients to help them address each of their objectives so they can move toward the future with confidence.

Before joining Raymond James, David was a first vice president at Morgan Keegan and a vice president at Interstate/Johnson Lane Inc. He graduated from NC State University.

David is a member of St. James Church and enjoys being outdoors hunting or fishing. He also volunteers with a dog rescue organization. A Wilmington native, he lives with his wife, Jane, and their daughter, Cooper.

Catherine F. Miller, AAMS®

Cathy serves as a trusted advisor for her clients, offering guidance in all aspects of their financial lives. Honest and trustworthy, she enjoys working closely with the families and individuals we serve as we address each of their long-term goals.

As an Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM, Cathy has completed coursework covering investments, insurance, tax, retirement, and estate planning issues and has passed an end-of-course examination testing her ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

Before joining Raymond James, Cathy was a financial advisor with Wheat First Securities.

Cathy is a member of the St. Andrews on the Sound Episcopal Church where she has also served on several committees. Originally from Graham, she lives in Wilmington, with her husband, Dan, and her mother, Louise.

Trip dedicates his extensive experience as a financial advisor to help families and individuals strategically pursue their goals. Organized and detail oriented, he is knowledgeable in comprehensive financial planning services with a specialty in investment selection and management.

As a Wealth Management Specialist, Trip has also completed a curriculum covering a variety of subjects including the wealth management process, investment strategies, investment taxation as well as retirement and estate planning considerations.

Before joining Raymond James, Trip was a financial advisor with Morgan Keegan and Interstate Securities. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he became a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Trip enjoys playing tennis and golfing in his spare time. Originally from High Point, he lives in Wilmington, with his wife, Betsy, and their children, Justin and Elise.

John Pace is the manager of the Raleigh branch as well as an active financial advisor, offering his clients comprehensive financial planning and wealth management. He has worked in financial services for more than 30 years.

A long-time Raleigh resident, John is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Accredited Investment Fiduciary.

When he is not helping clients, John enjoys golf, tennis and boating. He is also an elder at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Mabel, have three children.

William Russell Hesmer Jr.

Financial Advisor

William Hesmer is a former major league soccer player and brings an athlete’s discipline to his work as a financial advisor. He says the best thing about being a financial advisor is working with clients to help them fulfill their life’s goals.

Originally from Wilson, North Carolina, William has a bachelor’s degree in history from Wake Forest University, where he was an NCAA All-American in men’s soccer as well as an academic All-American and the Wake Forest University and Atlantic Coast Conference Student Athlete of the Year (2003-2004). In 2008, he was a Major League Soccer Cup Champion, and in 2010, he was the Wilson Daily Times Athlete of the Decade.

William also served on the Major League Soccer Players Union Executive Board and the Columbus Crew Soccer Foundation Board. His hobbies include golf and fishing. William and his wife, Tacey, live in Raleigh.

John Lloyd Watson Jr.

John Watson puts more than 25 years of experience to work for his clients. He says an early fascination for the stock market and acquisitions drew him to the investment services industry. He works with clients to help them plan for the future and ensure their long-term financial security. His areas of expertise include education planning, taxable and retirement account planning, and fee-based portfolio construction and management.

Originally from Bethel, North Carolina, John has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He’s a past president and scholarship committee chair of the Rotary Club of the Capital City and a former member of the board of directors for the North Carolina Modular and Manufactured Housing Institute. He also served as undergraduate vice president and alumni corporation president for Kappa Alpha Order/Upsilon Chapter.

In his spare time, John enjoys biking and golf. He and his wife, Nan, have two sons and live in Raleigh.

Ray F. Peck Jr.

Ray Peck has been an investment services professional since 1983, and has a goal of helping each of his clients gain wealth without unnecessary risk. Ray’s clients appreciate his accessibility and the level of personalized care they receive, as well as his ability to retain his composure even when the markets are in turmoil.

Ray, who is originally from Charlotte, holds both a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the treasurer of Citizens for Higher Education, a group of UNC alumni who work to improve the university and other research institutes in the state. In his free time, Ray likes to ski, hike and read. He and his wife, Dr. Martha G. Peck, have two children and live in Raleigh.

Marvin Burke Koonce III

Burke’s career as a securities analyst spanned two decades, a background that enables him to bring a practitioner’s perspective to managing his clients’ portfolios. Burke describes himself as a patient optimist who does his homework. Burke always wants those he serves to feel they receive institutional-grade service on an individual basis, and his clients benefit daily from his more than 20 years of experience assisting both individual and institutional clients.

Burke holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in business administration from Kenan-Flagler Business School. He began his investment career in 1998 as an associate with Trident Financial Corp before joining Merrill Lynch as an equity research analyst. Burke then went on to serve as a credit analyst with Silverback Asset Management, as a senior analyst with Oak Value Capital Management and as an executive vice president with the North Carolina Bankers Association. He also founded and served as the owner of Helicon Research, which he began in 2010 and maintained through 2017. Burke joined Raymond James in December 2017.

A former newspaper reporter, Burke still loves uncovering great stories, especially in the financial arena. He was an executive producer of the 2017 financial docu-thriller Betting On Zero, which premiered at TriBeCa Film Festival ad is now licensed by Netflix. Burke is the co-founder of Biltmore Films, an independent film production company that specializes in business and financial subjects.

A native of Raleigh, Burke makes his home with his wife, Adora, and their children, Marvin and Adora. He enjoys golf, watching sports and playing guitar in his free time. Burke is an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Scott L. Abee

Scott strives on a daily basis to assist his clients as they work diligently to accumulate, preserve and transfer wealth through the generations. With an interest in financial services that began during his collegiate studies, Scott understands that the financial planning process is not a “one size fits all” venture, a belief that his decades-long career reflects.

After graduating from Campbell University with a bachelor’s degree in business and trust administration in 1986, Scott began his career as a financial consultant in Smithfield with Carolina Securities. Before joining Raymond James with his team in 2015, Scott served as senior vice president with Davenport & Company for 14 years.

A Greensboro native, Scott has been married to his wife, Marie, for the past 25 years. Together they have three children, Clif, Reese and Oksana. Active in his community, Scott is a former board member of Habitat for Humanity of Wake County and former treasurer of both the Smithfield Rotary Club and Hayes Barton Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family and vacationing on the North Carolina coast.

Paul Elam specializes in investing using the institutional/endowment model and works with institutions and high-net-worth individuals.

Paul has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hilland holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation. He is a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh and a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 395. His hobbies include woodworking, photography and golf. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children and live in Raleigh.

Chris B. Harrell, CFA, AIF

Chris Harrell helps clients manage and increase their wealth through their investment plans. His expertise includes portfolio management, institutional consulting and planning services.

A native of Hertford, Chris graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science. He holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst and Accredited Investment Fiduciary.

He is a past chairman of the Staff Parish Committee at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church in Raleigh and served on the church’s finance committee. He also serves on the advisory board for the Alexander YMCA and on the teen center building committee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Raleigh. He enjoys playing golf and tennis in his free time.

Alan Hughes has more than 25 years’ experience advising business owners and affluent individuals on their finances. He combines the use of research and technical analysis to create portfolios designed to perform well in both up and down markets.*

Alan attended North Carolina State University and also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College. He is a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church and volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America and Ducks Unlimited.

He enjoys being outdoors, whether it’s hunting, fishing, farming, playing golf or the “occasional marathon.” Alan and his wife, Evelyn, have two children and live in Raleigh.

William Joseph Blanton

Managing Director

Bill Blanton offers clients consulting services as well as portfolio management with an eye toward helping them set and achieve their investment goals.

He was drawn to Raymond James because of its reputation as well as the freedom and support the firm provides its advisors.

Originally from Paintsville, Kentucky, Bill earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Charleston (West Virginia) and also attended the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Evansville, Illinois.

In Raleigh, he is a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he is a Stephen minister and chairman of the endowment committee and foundation.

In his free time, Bill likes to play golf. He and his wife, Holly, have five children and live in Raleigh.

Caroline M. Sinclair, AAMS®, WMS

Caroline followed her father's footsteps into financial services because she admired the trusting relationships he built with his clients over the years. To this day, she strives to connect to her clients on a personal level, learning their life stories and getting to the heart of their dreams – and concerns. Her goal? To help her clients focus less on money matters and more on enjoying their lives. She does that by creating tax-efficient financial plans tailored to their goals – whether that may be sending a child to college, leaving a lasting legacy or retiring with confidence. The close relationships she develops allow her to serve as a "social connector" of sorts, so she can introduce clients with similar interests or backgrounds to one another and help them create a supportive community of their own.

Caroline joined Raymond James in 2014 because she believes in the firm's commitment to keeping clients first and foremost. Previously, she was a financial advisor at Edward Jones for 10 years and served as a marketing director at Deloitte. Caroline graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor's degree in economics.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Caroline now lives in Cary. She believes in giving back to the community where she lives and works. She has lent her time and talent to the Cary Rotary Club as a member and a Paul Harris Fellow, supporting the Rotary's charitable foundation. She has also led divorce recovery classes at churches in both Raleigh and Cary. Out of the office, she enjoys traveling, playing tennis, reading and spending time with her children, Davidson and Alex.

H. Lee Snipes, Jr.

Lee Snipes specializes in financial planning with an emphasis on fixed income portfolio management. He joined Morgan Keegan in 1995, which merged with Raymond James in 2012. Earlier, Lee served as senior vice president at Wheat First Securities, where he focused on institutional fixed income sales. He also served as the vice president of Carolina Securities. Personable with a strong analytical style, Lee is passionate about meeting his clients’ long-term financial goals and doing so with a balanced risk/reward approach.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in administrative management from Clemson University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.

Originally from Cheraw, South Carolina, Lee now resides in Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, Mary Margaret. Outside of the office, Lee is an avid golfer and an active participant in his church.

Prior to joining Raymond James with his team in 2015, James was a financial advisor with Wells Fargo for 6 years and held the title Assistant Vice President. Before that, he served as an investment counselor with SunTrust Investment Services and as a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial for more than three years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on finance from Georgia Southern University. In 2008 and 2009 respectively, James earned the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM and Chartered Retirement Planning Specialist® from the College for Financial Planning.

Originally from Macon, Georgia, James lives in Clayton with his wife, Vannah, and their daughter, Susannah.

Nikki Agins, CRPC®

With more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry, Nikki helps clients pursue what matters most. She strives to simplify their financial lives with wealth management strategies tailored to their needs. Her thoughtful approach includes devoting considerable time to understanding a client’s big picture, the priorities to address, and the future they envision. She relates to clients on a personal level, making sure to always put clients’ needs first.

Nikki has earned the Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®) designation, having studied pre- and post-retirement needs, asset management, estate planning and the retirement planning process through the College for Financial Planning. Her financial services career includes roles at such firms as First Union Securities, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. She joined Raymond James in January 2019, attracted by its client-first culture and support of women.

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Nikki went to high school in Naples, Florida, and lived there for 28 years. She now lives in Raleigh and stays active in her community as a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Apex and P.E.O., one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America. Her hobbies include traveling abroad, cooking and working out, but her favorite thing to do with her time is to spend it with her husband, Michael, and her daughters, Madeline and Lydia.

Jacob Tyler Matthews, AAMS®

He resides in his hometown with his wife, Molly, and is a member of the banquet committee for the Coastal Conservation Association of North Carolina. In his time away from the office, Tyler enjoys all outdoor activities, particularly hunting and fishing. He is also an established steel sculptor who concentrates on wildlife.

Christopher Johnson

Senior Vice President, Wealth Management

Chris applies his 30 years of industry experience in advising clients on a variety of financial matters, from comprehensive wealth management to retirement and estate and trust planning. He enjoys building strong relationships with clients and their families and develops tailored strategies to help them pursue their objectives.

He has specialized experience in helping corporate executives navigate compensation plans, stock options, 10b5-1 trading plans, and severance and transition packages, particularly in the technology and healthcare industries. He also has experience helping business owners with family governance and succession planning.

After attending Penn State Behrend and earning a B.A. from Mercyhurst College, Chris began his career as a financial advisor in 1989 with Paine Webber (now UBS) in Erie, Pennsylvania. In 1997 he joined Merrill Lynch and met his business partner, Fred Asfoury, CFP®, MBA. Together, they joined Smith Barney in 2005 and later moved their practice to Wells Fargo Advisors. Chris and Fred joined Raymond James in 2019, drawn by the firm’s comprehensive resources and open architecture platform for investing.

Giving back to the community he calls home is very important to Chris. The charitable organizations he serves include:

Fred Asfoury, CFP®, MBA

With over 20 years of experience, Fred is passionate about helping clients achieve their goals while helping to organize and manage their wealth. His focused approach allows him to get to know his clients on a deeper level and create custom strategies for risk management, tax efficient income and estate planning in concert with clients’ tax and legal professionals. This comprehensive, coordinated and organized approach to financial planning helps to thoroughly address both the fine details and the bigger picture.

Fred is committed to being a trusted advisor and fiduciary for each client as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Though he has broad experience in many aspects of wealth management, he specializes in serving business owners, corporate executives and retirees. Throughout his career, he has developed an expertise in personal investment planning, 10b5-1 trading plans, restricted stock, incentive and non-qualified stock options, liability management, insurance, tax planning, trust planning, and wealth transfer.

An analytical thinker, Fred earned an engineering degree and an MBA in finance from the Rochester Institute of Technology before finding his way to the financial services industry as an advisor with Merrill Lynch in 1997, where he met his business partner, Chris Johnson. In 2005 they joined Smith Barney, and later moved their practice to Wells Fargo Advisors. Fred and Chris joined Raymond James in 2019, drawn by the firm’s comprehensive resources and open architecture platform.

Active in the community, Fred gives back as a member of the finance team for Hope Community Church, a management team member for New City Church along with supporting other causes within the community.

Originally from upstate New York, he lives in Apex with his wife of 23 years, Christine; they have three children: Jonathan, Michael and Jessica. When he’s away from the office, this Eagle Scout enjoys cycling, mountain biking, motocross, shooting sports, hiking, camping and swimming.

Lisa Workman

Financial Advisor

Lisa believes that ongoing monitoring after a financial plan is in place, as well as revising it through various life events, is crucial to financial success. Investment planning can be stressful at times for the clients she serves. Lisa helps them develop well-designed retirement, education, investment and lifetime income plans. Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry through a variety of roles, including municipal bond and mutual fund trader and registered client associate.

When she is away from work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, Gary, their three children, Sarah, Steven and Becca, and her parents. She enjoys playing tennis, as well as volunteering in various ministries and participating in short-term mission trips through Richland Creek Community Church, where she has been a member for almost 20 years. Lisa feels that her life has truly been blessed by the clients, team members and others who have been placed in her path.

Allison has over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry where she started as sales support for a team of financial advisors; her interest in the field and love for helping others grew into her role as Financial Advisor. Allison graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC where she earned her Bachelors in Communication. While at Meredith she played on the College softball team for 4 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her dog and baking.

As a financial advisor, Stephanie Kidd works diligently to provide clients with exceptional care based around comprehensive financial planning. Conscientious, experienced and honest, she considers it her responsibility to offer strategic, personalized service that is always in the client’s best interest. Stephanie has a genuine concern for clients and enjoys building long term relationships with them.

Before joining Raymond James with her team in 2015, Stephanie held the position of Client Service Associate with Davenport & Company. Prior to that, she served as an Associate Wealth Management Advisor with Northwestern Mutual. Stephanie earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Campbell University and holds her Series 7, 66, life and health insurance licenses.

A lifelong North Carolina resident, Stephanie makes her home in Raleigh with her husband, Eric. Together they have three children, Catherine, Jansen and Jackson, and three grandchildren, Liam, Emma and Ellie. They attend Bay Leaf Baptist church where they have been active members since 1998. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. She’s also an avid sports fan and especially enjoys pulling for the Carolina Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.

From the first time she meets with clients, Kenie wants them to feel heard and cared for. She applies her more than 31 years of experience as an advisor to help deliver the holistic, white glove service her clients expect and deserve. “I want my clients to trust that I’m always on their side,” she says. “I’m continuously seeking sound investment and financial planning strategies to help them use their wealth to build the lives – and retirements – they envision.”

Kenie devotes herself to creating financial plans tailored to her clients’ unique needs. At her office, there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all. Instead, she views each financial plan as an opportunity to gain a profound understanding of her clients’ wants, needs and dreams, offering a streamlined approach and insightful knowledge to help them navigate all types of markets. Committed to offering the best possible service, Kenie and her team recently hired a business coach for half a year, which allowed them to raise their level of service even more and help provide a truly exceptional client experience.

Kenie, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, began her career in 1988 as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter. There, she served clients for nearly two decades before joining Wachovia, later acquired by Wells Fargo, in 2006. Kenie eventually left for Raymond James in 2019. Speaking of her transition, Kenie explains it was done with her clients’ best interests in mind. “Raymond James has a culture that supports and encourages its financial advisors,” she says. “They provide the tools and resources we need to help our clients have successful financial futures.”

A lifelong resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kenie enjoys playing tennis, golfing, reading and spending time at the beach. She has two children, Nicole and Hadley, and owns a home in the Outer Banks. As a member and the incoming president of the Morrisville Rotary Club, Kenie helps raise money for both local and international projects. She’s also a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church, through which she does community service.
