When you look at Gary’s life and career, it’s fair to say that he is a people person who truly cares about the well-being of others. He derives great happiness from helping others pursue their financial goals, enjoy a comfortable retirement and leave a legacy to their liking. He listens carefully to each client to gain a good understanding of what they are striving to achieve and what’s important to their family.

Once he has achieved that, he goes about creating a customized financial plan and investment portfolio designed to pursue their goals, build and preserve their wealth, and address any financial risks or complexities that must be considered.

Early in his professional life, Gary put his degree in computer science to good work as a systems engineer for Adams Business Forms, Blue Cross Blue Shield, BNSF Railway and Westar, Inc.

After experiencing his own success, he became interested in helping others pursue their goals in life. In 2003, he decided to begin a new career with Edward Jones, where he worked as a financial advisor for 19 years. In August 2022, he moved to Raymond James, drawn by the opportunity to offer his clients more options and process client accounts more efficiently.

Active in the community, Gary serves as president of Compassion Strategies, and on the board of the Selective Service System and Kaw Valley Drainage District. Gary and his wife, Julie, also own a farm called Gary’s Berries, which they started in 1993 as a berry farm and home-schooling project. It has grown to become a community institution that attracts more than 28,000 people every year to its Fall Festival.

“The festival allows us to give to others and to those who might have challenging life circumstances,” Gary says. “We share the outdoor experience with them and let them know they are valued.” The farm also hosts a Christmas light show and all sorts of other attractions, including pig races, apple cannons, fireworks, sunflowers and stage acts.

Gary is originally from Chanute, Kansas, and now lives in Grantville, Kansas, with his wife, Julie. They have three children together, Michael, Emily and Aaron. They also consider the many faithful employees of their farm to be part of their family, as well.
