Bob Milligan

Robert Milligan,

CFP®, CIMA®, AIF® Managing Partner, 1792 Wealth Advisors Branch Manager, RJFS

Bob was instrumental in establishing 1792 Wealth Advisors and is now responsible for managing the Raymond James branch office. As branch manager, RJFS and managing partner, 1792 Wealth Advisors, Bob Milligan has many responsibilities, but the one he holds dearest is serving the families and individual clients, including retirees, corporate executives, widows and divorcees, who have put their trust in him. It’s the very reason Bob got into the business in the first place back in 1996.

“I wanted to help people,” Bob says. “I recognized early on that even smart people made not-so-smart decisions with their money because of emotions. I was interested in helping them create structure and discipline around their finances.

Bob has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and, as a result, has seen many kinds of market environments and has the ability to help his clients through them.

He is an investment professional with deep knowledge of investment policy and asset allocation. In addition to carefully managing assets, he is extremely proficient in trust and estate planning, concentrated stock hedging and diversification strategies, philanthropic planning, insurance planning, lending solutions and liability management.

While Bob works with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, as well as institutions and their advisors, he says his niche is clients with $1 million to $10 million of investable assets. “I believe that this group is underserved by most advisors. I provide very sophisticated advice that is typically offered to ultra-high-net-worth clients,” Bob says.

One of Bob’s specialties is reviewing high-level executive compensation plans for his clients who are nearing retirement and explaining the strategies and options that are available to them.

Bob’s goal is to give his clients a high degree of confidence that they can reach their financial goals. “I take the time to deeply understand the needs of my clients and believe that putting their interests should come above all else. I am truly dedicated to helping them succeed,” Bob says. “At the end of the day, my goal is to ensure they don’t outlive their money.”

Bob holds several key professional credentials that help him serve the specific and complex needs of his clients. As a Certified Financial Planner professional, he has attained the prestigious CFP® certification, a recognized standard of excellence in personal financial planning.

He also earned two additional credentials, Certified Investment Management Analyst from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® from the Center for Fiduciary Services. He is also a member of the Investment Management Consulting Association since 2000.

Bob is responsible for managing the Raymond James branch office, which involves overseeing all aspects of the business, including supervision, hiring, recruiting, marketing and financial management. He also works closely with the branch’s investment team to provide direction for the practice.

Bob was instrumental in establishing 1792 Wealth Advisors in 2007. In addition to being a founding managing partner, he serves as a senior wealth advisor and branch manager with Raymond James. He played a key role once again with the decision to move the professionals at 1792 Wealth Advisors to Raymond James in 2017. “I was attracted to Raymond James because of the firm’s culture and the fact that their values aligned with mine,” Bob says. “I also wanted to serve clients on an independent platform without giving up back office support. Raymond James allowed us to do that.”

Throughout his career, Bob held several senior-level roles in branch management, client relationship management and investment management. He was a senior vice president and branch manager at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and a vice president and investment strategist with Wachovia Wealth Management.

He began his financial career in 1996 as a wealth management advisor with Merrill Lynch, where he built and managed a successful practice providing customized investment solutions and comprehensive wealth plans to individuals, families and institutional investors. He is a graduate of Hofstra University.

In the community, Bob serves as board chair of the Adult Day Center of Somerset County and has been a member of their board since 2013. He is also a board member of Ridge Sports Foundation. He is a professionally trained philanthropic auctioneer who specializes in calling live benefit and charity auctions. Bob has worked with many of the leading nonprofit and philanthropic organizations in New York and New Jersey as the auctioneer for their major benefit events. It has created a tremendous value for the organizations he serves and consistently helps them maximize their fundraising efforts.

Bob was born in West Virginia but moved to New Jersey at a young age. He grew up in Wayne, New Jersey, and moved to Basking Ridge in 1998, where he lives today with his wife, Larissa, and their children, RJ, Brenna and Felicia. In his free time, Bob enjoys skiing, boating, golfing, being an auctioneer, working out and staying fit.
