With over 30 years of financial services experience, Tom learned the business at a very early age. In fact, to encourage him into the business, Tom’s parents taught him the alphabet by teaching him to alphabetize mutual fund statements for his financial advisor father, Joseph Hake. By the time Tom started middle school math and science classes, Tom could calculate complex investment rate of return calculations for his father’s clients, setting him up for a lifetime of straight A’s in math and a successful career as a financial advisor.
In 2019, Tom was particularly proud when Raymond James appointed him as the National Co-Chair for the Raymond James Pride Financial Advisors Network. As founder of this inclusion network, Tom leads Raymond James in support of clients, financial advisors, and allies who identify within and serve the LGBTQ+ community.
Tom has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to the LGBTQ+ community by many organizations. Amongst the prestigious awards Tom has received include the 2021 Tampa Bay Business Journal Business of Pride OUTstanding Voice recognition, the 2019 InvestmentNews See It Be It Role Model, for Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion, and the 2021 Raymond James “Beacon” award. Tom is most proud of this award as this recognition is given to a select few leaders of Raymond James Advisor Inclusion Networks.
Tom spends his time in both St. Petersburg, Florida, and St. Louis, Missouri, where he and his husband Paul enjoy watching Florida sunsets, spotting white pelicans, and watching for dolphins from their bayou-facing lanai. Tom enjoys any chance to travel, visiting clients, family, and friends throughout the country, especially if they want to meet at Walt Disney World.
