Rick Nelson,

CFP® Branch Manager

Throughout a career in the financial services industry that has spanned almost 40 years, Rick has encountered many different types of market environments and applied strategies designed to mitigate risk and capitalize on opportunities. He takes his role and responsibility personally to help his clients plan for their financial futures and takes great care in creating financial plans designed to help clients pursue what matters most in their lives. Building long-lasting relationships with clients based on mutual respect is second nature to him. As life and needs evolve, so do visions for the future. Rick is there every step of the way helping provide strategies needed to make informed decisions, based on realistic expectations.

Rick is a graduate of the 1977 class of the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics & Finance. He became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional in 1989, a certification that required him to complete the arduous CFP® certification process, meet ongoing certification renewal requirements, and holds him to rigorous ethical standards. Believing in always bettering himself to best serve his clients, Rick went on to earn his Master of Science Degree in 1996 in Financial Planning & Wealth Management from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, CO.

Before joining Raymond James in 1984, Rick became a loan officer for the Federal Land Bank covering counties in southeast Nebraska, soon moving up to branch manager. He switched directions in the finance industry in 1982 and opened a branch office in Atlantic, IA for Edward Jones. In 1984, he joined an existing Raymond James office in Atlantic as their Director of Investments, and in 1987 he purchased the existing Raymond James office in Hastings, NE where he has enjoyed growing his practice to what it is today. He is a member of the Financial Services Institute, the Financial Planning Association, Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church, and various Masonic organizations.

Rick and his wife, Roxanne, have a son and live just outside of Hastings, NE. In Rick’s free time, he enjoys the great outdoors of his native state of Nebraska, but takes an occasional fishing trip to Canada, Missouri or wherever he hears the fish may be biting. He enjoys hunting, grooming his CRP acres for wildlife habitat, and spending time at Calamus Reservoir with his family and friends.

Investing involves risk and you may incur a profit or loss regardless of strategy selected.
