Ralph J. Koss, known as R.J., is a Managing Director with Raymond James, based in the firm’s Clinton Township branch. With a career in financial services that began in 1994, R.J. is deeply committed to helping individuals, families, and businesses achieve their long-term financial goals through trusted, long-standing relationships built on mutual respect.
With the Wealth Management Specialist designation, R.J. offers a comprehensive approach to wealth and income planning, risk management, estate planning, and retirement strategies. He leverages the extensive resources of Raymond James—one of the largest independent financial services firms in the country—to deliver personalized guidance and tailored financial strategies that align with each client’s unique needs.

Before beginning his career in financial services, R.J. earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Walsh College, where he developed a strong foundation in finance, management, and strategic planning. Inspired by his father’s legacy in the industry, R.J. chose to follow in his footsteps and pursue a path in wealth management.
In 2008, after gaining valuable experience and insight in the field, R.J. partnered with Joe Saverino to co-found Pilot Financial Group. Together, they built a team grounded in personalized service, long-term client relationships, and a shared commitment to helping individuals and families achieve financial confidence.
Originally from Detroit, R.J. now resides in Romeo, Michigan. He is actively involved in the community and currently serves as President of the Kiwanis Club of Clinton Township. He is also a member of the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital Board of Trustees, President of the Henry Ford Macomb Ambassador Club, and a member of both the Selfridge Base Community Council and the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan.
Outside of work, R.J. enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, Carolyn, and their three adult sons—Griffin, Ryan, and Colin.
