James Michael specializes in helping companies and their employees get the most out of their retirement plans, and helping individual investors make educated decisions about their future through comprehensive financial planning. He holds the professional designations of Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM, Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM.

He joined Morgan Keegan as a financial advisor in 2007, which became part of Raymond James in 2012. He began his financial services career in 2005 with American Express Financial Advisors, in Birmingham, and earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural business and economics from Auburn University.

In the community, James Michael serves on the executive board for Birmingham Delta Waterfowl, who conducts vital research, and promotes and protects the continuing tradition of waterfowl hunting in North America, and a board member of the Birmingham Coastal Conservation Association, which aims to conserve, promote and enhance the present and future availability of coastal marine resources. He also currently serves and the President for the Birmingham Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, whose mission is to conserve, restore, and promote the sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural resources, including soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife. In the past he has been a junior board member for Camp Smile a Mile, Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the Red Mountain Theatre.

Originally from Cullman, Alabama, he lives in Irondale with his wife Alison, daughter Annsley and their two dogs Minnie and Jack. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, the outdoors and spending time with his family.
