As a financial professional with more than 10 years of experience, James Michael specializes in helping companies and their employees get the most out of their retirement plans. He also applies his extensive knowledge to helping individual investors make educated decisions about their future through comprehensive financial planning. He holds the professional designations of Accredited Asset Management Specialist®, Accredited Investment Fiduciary® and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor®.

He joined Morgan Keegan as a financial advisor in 2007, which became part of Raymond James in 2012. He began his financial services career in 2005 with American Express Financial Advisors, in Birmingham. He earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural business and economics from Auburn University.

In the community, James Michael serves as the area chairman of Birmingham Delta Waterfowl, which works to produce ducks, conserve breeding duck habitat, enhance duck hunting opportunities and ensure the continuing tradition of duck hunting in North America. He also sits on the Executive Board of Birmingham Coastal Conservation Association, which aims to conserve, promote and enhance the present and future availability of coastal marine resources. In the past he has served as a junior board member of Camp Smile-A-Mile, Alabama's program for children with cancer, treasurer and executive board member of Birmingham Ducks Unlimited, a prominent global wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, and a junior board member for Red Mountain Theatre Company, a local community theatre company.

Originally from Cullman, Alabama, he lives in Irondale with his wife, Alison, their daughter Annsley, and their two dogs, Jack and Minnie. In his free time, he enjoys boating around the Southeast, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family at Smith Lake.
