Prior to forming McDermott-Armati Wealth Strategies LLC, John worked as a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firms for five years. There, he received his brokerage, investment advisory, and life and health insurance licenses. He graduated from Georgetown University with an executive certificate in financial planning and has since received the distinguished CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification. Prior to becoming a financial advisor, he worked in the architectural industry for 20 years. John received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland in interior architecture in 1991.

John focuses on helping people meet their individual financial objectives through comprehensive financial planning. He works closely with clients to identify their goals, helps them to integrate appropriate strategies and then monitors their progress to keep them on track toward meeting those goals. John focuses on core areas of financial planning, including retirement planning, asset management, estate planning, risk management and college planning. He also utilizes equity research, fundamental and technical analysis, and investment hedging strategies to actively manage each portfolio.

John and his wife, Laura, have been married since 1993 and have three boys. He loves playing sports, particularly golf, tennis and basketball, as well as sketching and playing the piano. He also coaches his sons’ soccer, football and basketball teams.
