Chris manages our trading and conducts equity and income analysis. He reviews each day’s activities to ensure the proper execution of trades and confirm if new accounts have opened and assets have been transferred in successfully.
He is one of three managing partners overseeing The Wise Investor Group and sits on our investment decision committee. He communicates regularly with traders and investment analysis staff to see if anything has changed with our positions or portfolios and shares his findings with our team. He meets with the investment decision committee to determine if any portfolio changes would be prudent and discuss portfolios and any issues that might arise.
“I have a hand in almost every aspect of our business, so I understand how certain decisions impact other parts,” Chris says. “Unlike many people in an investment analysis or trading capacity, I also talk with clients.” As a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, Chris holds one of the most respected financial planning credentials in the industry today.
“We serve the millionaire-next-door type of client: The neighbor that owns the store around the corner they started 20 years ago or the government worker across from you that has been a federal employee for 25 years who has a considerable nest egg but no idea if it is enough to retire. We also serve the executive at a small government contractor who has a solid salary but hasn’t spent any time on investing,” Chris says.
Chris has been in the investment services field ever since he was in college, working at a firm while attending classes. After earning a bachelor’s degree in finance from George Mason University, he worked at Legg Mason and Prudential, primarily educating 401(k) plan participants about their investment choices.
He joined The Wise Investor Group at Ferris, Baker Watts in 2001, where he was a financial advisor and an equities and fixed income trader. He now serves as a managing director heading up the trading process.
Chris transitioned to Raymond James with the team in September 2022. “Raymond James interested us due to their people, size, and technology,” Chris says. “The people we met all were kind, caring and genuine. I believe the technology they have will improve our clients’ ability to access and understand their accounts. Plus, Raymond James is large enough to have the resources smaller firms can only dream about but small enough to still have a personal touch with us and our clients.”
Chris was born and raised in Springfield, Virginia, and lives in Leesburg, Virginia, with his wife, Jacqui. They have five children: Rachael, Nicholas, Brooke, Mackenzie, and Sydney. In his free time, Chris enjoys biking, running and golfing. He sponsors golf tournaments each year for charitable causes such as Loudoun Cares, the CORE Foundation and Malerie’s Hope.
