With his broad technical knowledge and deep values-based planning ability, Matt constructs comprehensive financial plans that address essential matters such as retirement, tax issues, investments, insurance, education planning and estate planning.

His goal is to understand the “why” behind his clients’ objectives. Doing so enables him to design comprehensive financial plans that truly reflect his clients’ objectives, values and principles. He cares about his clients’ well-being and success in achieving their goals and aspirations.

“I enjoy helping people solve problems,” Matt says. “At the same time, I enjoy educating them about financial and investing concepts. If I wasn’t in the financial planning field, I would probably be a teacher.”

Matt has more than 20 years of experience in transitioning individuals to retirement. He helps with retirement income and withdrawal strategies, Social Security optimization, life and healthcare insurance, downsizing and relocation decisions, and gifting and estate distribution strategies.

As a Certified Financial Planner professional, Matt has attained the prestigious CFP® certification, one of the most respected financial planning credentials and the recognized standard of excellence in personal financial planning. He also holds the professional designations of Chartered Financial Consultant® and Chartered Life Underwriter®.

He moved to Raymond James with our team in September 2022. Before he joined The Wise Investor Group in 2008, Matt was a financial advisor at Citi Smith Barney and Legg Mason. He is a graduate of Lehigh University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics.

Matt has lived in Northern Virginia for 40 of his 50 years, where he lives today with his wife, Renata, and their children, Giovanna, Victoria and Leo. Matt was born in Detroit, Michigan, and lived for a few years in Breckenridge, Colorado, and San Francisco, California, after college.

In his free time, he enjoys playing ice hockey, reading historical nonfiction, volunteering at his church, and spending quality time with his wife and children. He is an avid fan of the Washington Commanders and Washington Capitals.
