Mike has a true passion for investing and is driven to exceed his clients’ expectation when executing strategies to pursue their goals. He works with affluent retirees and many mid-career professionals, including doctors and corporate executives. Mike is meticulous in his approach to providing essential services such as comprehensive financial planning, investment management, estate planning, education planning and insurance planning.
Part of his passion is developing personal relationships with clients. "Our role is so much greater than a stockbroker’s," he says. "It requires understanding who our clients are and what their goals are as investors. As time goes by, many clients become close friends. It’s a natural thing that takes place when you work so personally and thoroughly with someone."
Mike appreciates being in a position of providing recommendations that can change people’s lives for the better. "The positive impact we can have on individuals is very satisfying," he says. "It’s the main reason that I say that I have the best job in the world."
As a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, Mike adheres to the CFP Board’s Code of Ethics for integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence.
Before joining Raymond James in 2009, Mike was a financial planner and vice president at Merrill Lynch. He holds general securities, options, life insurance, health and variable annuity licenses.
Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hope College, where he graduated cum laude and was a member of Omicron Kappa Epsilon. He completed a certificate program in financial planning at Grand Valley State University’s Seidman School of Business.
A Michigan native, Mike grew up in Jackson and lives in Spring Lake with his wife, Elizabeth, and children, Gavin and Jamison. In his free time, Mike enjoys golf, boating and soccer – a lifelong passion of his. He serves as a volunteer coach in a youth soccer league and still plays with the spirit he developed while on his college team.
