Mark Vivian

Financial Advisor

At the age of 17, I knew I was meant to help people in the field of investments and advice. While a senior in high school, my partner and I placed third in the stock market game overall in California. At the age of 18, to pay my way through San Jose State University, I sold real estate with Century 21 and that is where I learned most about serving others, listening to goals, and above all else, how to run a successful business. Thirty years later, I have helped a countless number of families accumulate wealth and plan accordingly.

I started my advising career in 1999 and spent time with Merrill Lynch and Edward Jones where I developed and refined the skills needed for portfolio management and retirement guidance. I am a Retirement Income Certified Professional™, Accredited Asset Management Specialist™, and Certified Financial Planner™ professional.

I’m the Founding Partner and Principal of Vivian Investment Partners, an independent practice that focuses on Retirement. Income. Matters.

Retirement. What do you think of when you reflect on how retirement should or could be? The answer to this question will be different from one person to another. Some may see themselves travelling the world, spending time with their children and grandchildren, or perhaps devoting time to give back to their community or special cause. Whatever it may be, my passion is to understand your dreams and work with you on strategies to help you live that dream.

Income. Essential to a successful retirement is a strategic plan that addresses the distribution phase of your assets. I have found through my experience and expertise there can be a real fear among investors and individuals about moving from employment income to investment income. I provide thoughtful, strategic solutions to mitigate any fear and give you comfort with a comprehensive, evolving retirement income plan.

The planning that goes with the distribution phase is far more complex than the accumulation period. What is the proper withdrawal rate? How much rising income is needed to address inflation? When do tax efficiencies make sense? Why does proper planning for Social Security have such an impact in the long run? My team and I specialize in the proper planning and distribution of your assets to help fund your dreams and maintain your wealth, so you can retire on your own terms.

Matters. Although income is key to retirement, addressing all other matters is just as important. Do you want to establish a foundation? How do you properly address a concentrated stock position? Is leaving a legacy to future generations important? What about unexpected events such as long-term care expenses or sudden death? We strive to look at all matters that can have an impact on your income and retirement security.

One of life’s idioms I am keenly aware of is “time waits for no one”. I now spend time caring for my aging parents. Having worked with many baby boomer families, and now my aging parents, I am reminded about why it is imperative to continually plan. It is important for me to help those who are approaching retirement or in retirement to have a strategic plan in place.

As longtime residents of Gilroy, my wife Annette and I spend time to help better our wonderful community when not in the office. I am a board member with San Benito CASA and Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. I am also a charter member and President of the Gilroy After Hours Rotary club. In my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my adult children, travel, wine tasting, attending auto shows, cheering for the 49ers, fishing, and running.

We truly are a family office. And for all you dog lovers out there, we are a pet friendly office! As part of our family office experience, we have also brought on Bearded Collie Snoopy, our Chief Stress manager, who boasts decades of experience in stress management (of course in dog years).

My commitment to clients and the community is to provide a V.I.P. experience and focus on Retirement. Income. Matters. for our clients.

Investing involves risk and you may incur a profit or loss regardless of strategy selected.
