Wesley E. Smith, CFP® Operations Manager Financial Advisor

Wes believes all advisors have unique life experiences, and his are undoubtedly different. In 2007, Wes started with Oak Knoll Financial Strategies’ predecessor practice as a property and casualty insurance agent. He became more involved in the financial end of the business and eventually passed Series 7 and 66 licensing exams in 2012 and became a financial advisor. In 2019, Wes studied and was awarded the Certified Financial Planner professional certification. Sometimes clients and co-workers get a little glimpse of his former life as a mechanical engineer.

Wes reviews accounts with families and individuals, making sure their plans are still working toward their goals. He likes to help solve their problems and address concerns about saving, investing, funding college or housing, and protecting their families. Wes is aware of the assortment of different skills he and his co-workers bring to the table, hoping to provide sound, logical solutions to problems when working together.

Volunteering is second nature to Wes, as he is active in church and community activities including the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, the Wilmington Area Community Band (where he’s a tuba player) and Wilmington Music Boosters.

Wes has lived in Wilmington since 1992. A firm believer that two wheels are best, he gets the office award for burning the least amount of gas for commuting because he rides his bicycle every day, even through the winter. He also enjoys motorcycle trips and “fixing things.” When he’s not home with his family of schoolteachers, you can find him taking the family dog for a walk at the dog park on a warm summer evening.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner®,  CFP Logo Flame Design and  CFP Logo Plaque Design in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
