A Wealth Management Specialist™, Greg is one of the original partners who formed the practice in 1997. He helps high-net-worth individuals and families by customizing financial plans designed around the goals they have for each important stage of their lives. He also serves retirement plans and believes in the value of always being candid with clients, and taking the time to explain the benefits and risks of investments.
Greg manages the business of the Brechnitz Group of Raymond James, and is a lead on managing client relationships and new relationship acquisition. He has 35 years of technical experience in writing, amending and administering retirement plans. His background as a certified public accountant and supervising senior tax specialist in his former career provides clients with a valuable resource for many complicated tax strategies. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Millikin University, Greg earned his CPA designation and served as a supervising senior tax specialist for KPMG Peat Marwick. He also held the position of vice president, senior trust officer in charge of employee benefit plans at First of America Trust Company.
Greg strongly believes in giving back to his community. He is a former member of the Alumni Advisory Board for Millikin University; past treasurer, head of the finance committee, and board member of the Greater Decatur YMCA; and past member of the allocation committee for the United Way. He recently completed his second term on the board of directors for St. Teresa High School and is a member of their executive committee and finance board. Over the years, Greg has volunteered time as a youth sports coach for YMCA volleyball, soccer and basketball programs, Decatur Park District Mid-State Soccer program, LSA Grade School soccer and volleyball programs as well as Our Lady of Lourdes volleyball program. He volunteers as an announcer for high school volleyball matches and assists with the St. Teresa volleyball program.
Greg and his wife, Linda, live in Decatur, Illinois. They have two children: Courtney and Lexie. In his free time, Greg enjoys spending time with friends and family and golfing.
