Russell T. Henshaw,
AIF® First Vice President, InvestmentsThroughout his career, Russ has seen his service to his clients and their families through a wider lens – not just as financial planner and advisor, but as a friend, a confidant and a partner through all of life’s ups and downs. He is there to be part of their journeys, helping them recast their financial lives with the arrival of a new child, creating bigger goals alongside their own career successes, and through retirement and into complicated discussions about their legacies and the well-being of generations to come.
Madison Street Wealth Advisors of Raymond James is a team of equals, with each advisor bringing their experience to bear in support of the practice’s clients. To that experienced team, Russ brings a particular focus on holistic wealth planning – the many-layered services and structures that help clients use their resources well in support of their greater goals. This includes topics as diverse as insurance, long-term healthcare, retirement income planning, estate planning and intergenerational wealth transfer.
Russ also brings a focus on business owners. Compared to other investors, business owners face distinct types of risk including greater difficulty in diversifying their assets. They also have distinct opportunities, particularly in the transitional moments where they are exiting, restructuring or expanding a business.
Russ began his career in 1996 as a financial advisor trainee with Dean Witter. In the years that followed, he worked with Legg Mason and then Smith Barney after a merger. He joined the team and Raymond James in 2017.
Russ is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences. He has also earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation, a course and examination focused on the role of a fiduciary and the fiduciary standard of care.
In his civic engagements, Russ has volunteered his time with the Blackburn Institute at the University of Alabama and the Never Should Have Made It Club at the University of Alabama School of Commerce. At his church, First United Methodist Church of Huntsville, he serves on the Finance Committee and Planned Giving and Endowment Committee. He is also a small-group leader for outgoing high school seniors.
Russ is originally from Huntsville and has lived in Maryland and Connecticut. He returned to his hometown in 1996. He and his wife, Wendy, have three children. Outside the office, he enjoys maintaining his fitness as well as playing pickleball and soccer, golfing and coaching.
