Tad Darland advises business owners, landowners, and executives on the decisions that help determine whether a lifetime of work translates into lasting financial freedom — because when everything they've built becomes liquid, what happens next determines everything.
His work centers on business exits and liquidity events, helping clients convert years of hard work into tax-efficient, long-term wealth. He works with clients well before a transaction, preparing their business for sale, identifying risks, and structuring a plan to help maximize after-tax proceeds. From there, he guides them through the transition and into post-sale strategies designed to help preserve and grow wealth for future generations.
Tad specializes in exit planning, succession planning, estate tax strategies, and managing concentrated positions. He frequently collaborates with CPAs, attorneys, and investment bankers to ensure transactions are structured efficiently and aligned with each client's long-term goals.
As a former oilfield business owner, Tad brings firsthand experience to the planning process. He understands the realities of building, operating, and exiting a business — and the importance of doing so in a way that helps protect both financial outcomes and legacy.
Clients value his ability to simplify complex decisions and provide clear, actionable guidance during high-stakes moments. His approach is rooted in transparency, efficiency, and long-term relationships.
Tad holds a degree in Finance from Texas Tech University and previously attended San Diego State University and Odessa College on golf scholarships.
Outside the office, Tad enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors — whether at the lake, golfing, or snowboarding. He lives in Midland with his wife, Maris, and their three children: Sutton, Dax, and Nash.
