Always, Beneficial & Enlightening
September 14, 2017

Welcome to the inaugural Abuls, Bone & Eller (AB&E) blog! With this initial writing, we though it appropriate, and hopefully helpful, to explain why we are changing from a newsletter format to the blog format.

Over the last year we asked a lot of questions of our clients and other professionals regarding communicating effectively in today’s world. ‘Effectively’ to us first meant people would actually read the pieces we wrote. Secondly, they would understand what we wrote without getting out the thesaurus or googling frequently. And as a result they would feel satisfaction they were informed or entertained by what we shared.

One of our clients, when asked about reading our newsletter, explained her process. She would get up one of her weekend days, pour a cup of coffee, lay out the newsletter on the kitchen table and thoughtfully and diligently read the newsletter. Then she would pour a second cup of coffee and repeat the process to gain a full understanding. God bless her, but we doubt anyone else put in his type of effort. And in many cases, people might have been scared off by the length of the newsletter to even begin reading it.

So the first two changes from a newsletter format to the blog will be a more frequent communication and a shorter length to each piece. Most writings will focus on one subject and often a current topic.

The overriding goal of the blog is to educate, inform and entertain you in a client-friendly manner regarding investments, financial planning and other worldly subjects affecting the markets and your money. We will include subjects and items specific to our investment policy and financial planning strategies, as well as some general current events and topics. We sincerely welcome your input on things you would like to know more.

Always - at all times; on all occasions

Beneficial – favorable or advantageous; resulting in good

Enlightening – give (someone) greater knowledge and understanding about a subject or situation

In Richard Bach’s book, “Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah”, Donald Shimoda questions Richard Bach on why he goes to the movies. Ultimately they decide it is to be both informed and to be entertained. They decide it is a question you should ask yourself frequently as you live your life, “Am I learning or being entertained?” We hope our efforts will accomplish both for you.
