Melissa Joy, CFP®, is partner and director of wealth management at Center for Financial Planning, Inc. Melissa began her career in the financial planning in 1998 and joined The Center in 1999. Melissa provides comprehensive financial planning and wealth management services for high net worth individuals and families. Her areas of specialty include dealing with sudden money situations, generational wealth transfer, and planning for women and young executives. She is responsible for The Center's investment management and financial planning departments. She is also a member of the firm’s Investment Committee and Operation Committee.

Melissa is regularly quoted on financial planning topics for publications including The Chicago Tribune, Financial Advisor Magazine, Investment News, and Morningstar Advisor Magazine. She has been recognized as one of eight honorees of the Financial Advisor Magazine Research All-Star team for three consecutive years in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She has a certificate in financial planning from Boston University and is a Certified Financial Plannerâ„¢. Melissa completed the Executive Leadership Program through Inforum, a Michigan Professional Women’s Alliance. She is currently focusing on her passion for generational financial planning and practices that help tie meaning to money with Certified Financial Transitionist training through the Sudden Money Institute.

Personally, Melissa lives in Dexter, Michigan with her husband Jeff and two young children Gus and Josie. She is a trustee at First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor and volunteers with the Michigan Financial Planning Association. When not busy at work she enjoys time with her family, travel, playing soccer, and photography.
