Raymond James taps industry veteran Alex David to head Northeast division

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James announced today that Alex David has joined the firm as Northeast division director within its independent advisor channel, Raymond James Financial Services. With his appointment, David steps into the role formerly held by Shannon Reid, who was recently named president of the firm’s Independent Contractor Division.

David brings to Raymond James more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of Stifel Independent Advisors, prior to which he spent nearly 13 years at Wells Fargo Advisors as head of Branch Development and Marketing for the firm’s independent brokerage arm.

“I’m pleased to welcome Alex to Raymond James. His extensive experience recruiting, coaching and consulting independent financial advisors will be an asset to attract and retain talent,” said Reid. “I’m confident that his leadership will benefit our team as we find new, innovative ways to support our advisors and grow our footprint.”

Earlier in his career, David was an institutional wholesaler at Lord Abbett, Federated Investors and OppenheimerFunds. He has also represented industry initiatives in Washington, D.C., including discussions with the House Ways and Means Committee regarding the tax status of 1099 independent contractors. David’s professional experience is backed by a doctorate in business and a master’s degree in economics from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University.

“Raymond James has a distinguished reputation for putting advisors and their independence first. I’m looking forward to leveraging my experience and perspective to continue that tradition in the Northeast division,” said David.
